About Desking App

Desking App exists to make one of the hardest parts of running a modern business — choosing the right software — genuinely straightforward. We test tools hands-on, break down real pricing, and publish verdicts you can act on with confidence.

Every week, teams waste hours and real money on software that looked perfect on a landing page and fell apart in daily use. We started Desking App because we lived that frustration ourselves. The market is loud, comparison content is often thin or paid-for, and it is hard to tell an honest recommendation from a placement. Our answer is simple: use the product, score it against a consistent framework, and show our work.

What we do

We publish three kinds of content, and they all feed each other. Our in-depth reviews cover a single product from setup to support. Our best-of rankings pull the strongest options in a category into a clear order, with the reasoning behind each position. And our blog answers the practical, task-level questions people actually search for — how to migrate, how to configure, how to get more from a tool you already pay for.

Our promise to readers

We only recommend software we have evaluated against real tasks. Our scores reflect what we found in testing, not what a vendor would like us to say. When money changes hands through an affiliate link, that never buys a better score or a higher ranking.

How we test

Consistency is what makes a score mean something. For every product we review, we sign up as a normal customer, complete a set of representative tasks, and document the experience end to end. We look at the same dimensions each time so that a 4.2 in one category is comparable to a 4.2 in another.

Hands-on setup

We create an account and go through onboarding exactly as a new user would, noting friction, time-to-value and hidden requirements.

Core features

We put the headline capabilities through real workflows rather than reading a feature list, and we flag what only works on higher tiers.

Pricing value

We map every plan, currency and billing period so you can see what a tool truly costs at your team size — not just the sticker price.

Support and reliability

We contact support with genuine questions and track responsiveness, documentation quality and day-to-day stability.

Each dimension contributes to an overall editorial score from one to five. Where a product is excellent for one audience but wrong for another, we say so plainly — the best tool for a solo founder is rarely the best tool for a two-hundred-person operation.

Who writes our reviews

Desking App content is produced by a small editorial team with hands-on experience across project management, security, marketing and business operations software. Our reviewers and editors are named on every piece they work on, and you can read more about each of them on their author pages. We believe accountability matters: if our name is on a verdict, we stand behind it.

Editorial independence

Our editorial team decides what we cover and how we score it. Commercial relationships have no influence over our conclusions, and we do not accept payment in exchange for a positive review, a ranking position, or the removal of criticism. If we get something wrong, we correct it and note the change.

How we make money

Desking App is reader-supported and free to use. Some links to products are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. We also run clearly labelled display advertising. Neither of these ever changes a score or a recommendation. You can read the full detail in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Get in touch

We read every message. Whether you have spotted an error, want to suggest a product for review, or are exploring a partnership, please reach out through our contact page. Feedback from readers is one of the main reasons our coverage keeps improving.
